The department’s primary function is the professional development of teachers of mathematics and science. Currently more than 120 people work at the department and, of these, around 20 are PhD students engaged in highly regarded research across a range of mathematics education and science education topics.

PRIM-gruppen

PRIM stands for PRov I Matematik, which means simply Testing in Mathematics. Over time the group has increasingly focused on assesment in a wider sense, and our tagline, "Research Group for the assesment of knowledge and competence" best describes the nature of the group today.

PRIM-gruppen conducts research within the area of Assessment of knowledge and works with identifying and assessing the vocational knowledge of students. PRIM-gruppen develops Assessment methods within this area, in collaboration with researchers, teachers, pupils, teacher trainers and subject experts, as well as taking part in national and international projects, and organising courses, evaluations and seminars.
