Prof Hamsa Venkat holds the position of South African Numeracy Chair at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her work in South Africa has been in the areas of Mathematical Literacy and Primary Mathematics teaching and learning. She talked about the Numeracy Chair project, and related it to conceptual issues regarding ”Specialized content knowledge”.
